Alan L. Hart was a prominent American physician, radiologist, and tuberculosis researcher who significantly advanced the field of tuberculosis detection through his pioneering work in X-ray photography. Over a span of 16 years, he spearheaded mass X-ray screening initiatives in Connecticut, leading to numerous lives being saved. In addition to his medical contributions, Hart was a talented novelist, having authored four novels and nine short stories that seamlessly blended drama, romance, and medical themes. Notably, he also made history as one of the first trans men in the U.S. to undergo a hysterectomy in approximately 1917.
