Ahmet Ayık is a former Turkish World champion and Olympic medalist sports wrestler in the Light heavyweight class (97 kg). He won silver at the 1964 Olympics and gold at the 1968 Olympics. Ayık began wrestling as a youngster and joined various clubs before becoming a national team member in 1962. He achieved numerous titles at international competitions and defeated legendary wrestlers. After retiring in 1970, Ayık co-founded the Turkish Wrestling Foundation and held leadership positions in Turkish and International Wrestling Federations.
