Dave Sim is a Canadian cartoonist and publisher known for his comic book Cerebus. He is recognized for his artistic experimentation, advocacy of self-publishing and creators’ rights, and controversial political and philosophical beliefs. Sim rose to fame with Cerebus, a series he envisioned as a self-contained 300-issue work. He explored politics, feminism, and gender within his storytelling, and later worked on projects like Cerebus Archives, Glamourpuss, and Judenhass. Sim co-founded Aardvark-Vanaheim, which later transitioned to Renegade Press. He played a key role in creating the Creator’s Bill of Rights and supports releasing his works into the public domain posthumously.
