Philip Chapman Lesh is a celebrated American musician recognized for his founding role as the bass guitarist of the legendary band, the Grateful Dead. After the band disbanded in 1995, Lesh preserved their musical heritage by forming Phil Lesh and Friends, a project that paid tribute to the band’s catalog and showcased his own compositions. He also oversaw the music venue Terrapin Crossroads and collaborated with different bands, including Phil Lesh & Friends and Furthur with fellow Grateful Dead member Bob Weir.
