He served as Reich Minister for Economic Affairs and president of Reichsbank, where he played a crucial role in mobilizing the German economy for rearmament efforts. Additionally, Funk oversaw the implementation of forced labor in concentration camps. Following World War II, he was convicted as a major war criminal at the Nuremberg Trials and sentenced to life in prison. Funk was released on health grounds in 1957 and passed away three years later.
