Glen Brand was an accomplished American wrestler and Olympic champion in Freestyle wrestling. He gained recognition for his gold medal win at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London. Brand was a three-time All-American for Iowa State University, where he compiled an impressive record and established himself as a fierce competitor. He was the first ISU athlete to be inducted into The Des Moines Register Sports Hall of Fame and later into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Additionally, a high school wrestling tournament is held annually in his honor in Clarion, Iowa.
