Ottorino Respighi was a renowned Italian composer, violinist, teacher, and musicologist in the early 20th century. He was celebrated for his diverse works, which ranged from operas and ballets to orchestral suites, choral songs, chamber music, and transcriptions of Italian compositions from the 16th–18th centuries. Respighi achieved global recognition for his three orchestral tone poems: Fountains of Rome, Pines of Rome, and Roman Festivals. Additionally, he served as a composition professor at the Liceo Musicale di Santa Cecilia and maintained an active career as a performer and conductor worldwide until his premature passing at age 56.
