Jesús David “Jesse” Vassallo Anadón is a retired swimmer who previously held world records in the 200 and 400 individual medley events. He competed for the United States at the 1984 Summer Olympics and was the first Puerto Rican swimmer to be inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1997. Vassallo was named Swimming World Magazine’s “Male Swimmer of the Year” in 1978 and later served as president of the Puerto Rican National Swimming Federation from 2004 to 2009.
