He pioneered the use of catgut for internal stitches and developed surgical devices for procedures like Caesarean sections and cataract surgeries, leaving a lasting impact on medicine and surgery. Al-Zahrawi’s work was widely influential and remained a standard textbook in Europe for five centuries.
