Scotty Moore, an influential American guitarist, co-founded The Blue Moon Boys, Elvis Presley’s backing band, in 1954. He played as Presley’s studio and touring guitarist from 1954 to 1968. Moore is credited with pioneering power chords on the 1957 hit “Jailhouse Rock” and was ranked 29th in Rolling Stone’s 2011 list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. His achievements include inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum, and the Memphis Music Hall of Fame. Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones praised Moore’s exceptional talent.
