Augustus Owsley Stanley III, professionally known as Bear, was a significant figure in the 1960s San Francisco Bay Area hippie movement. He served as the sound engineer for the Grateful Dead, capturing many of their live shows and creating the iconic Wall of Sound system. Stanley also played a pivotal role in the counterculture of that time. Notably, he was the first private individual to produce LSD on a large scale in the mid-1960s. His influence on music and counterculture left a lasting legacy.
