Oleg Antonovich Gordievsky is a former KGB colonel who served as a KGB resident-designate and bureau chief in London. He worked as a double agent, providing intelligence to the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) from 1974 to 1985. Following his recall to Moscow and subsequent suspicion, he was exfiltrated from the Soviet Union in July 1985 via Operation Pimlico. In his absence, the Soviet Union sentenced him to death after his defection.
