Yevgeny Nikolayevich Kulikov is a former Soviet speed skater known for his specialization in sprint events. He was the first skater to break the 38-second barrier on the 500 m distance in 1975 and held the world record for 8 years. He won gold at the 1976 Winter Olympics and silver at the 1980 Games. He also achieved success at the World Sprint Championships, winning silver in 1975 and bronze in 1977. Kulikov continued to push boundaries by breaking the 37-second barrier on the 500 m distance in 1981.
