William J. Guarnere Sr. was a United States Army paratrooper during World War II, serving as a non-commissioned officer with Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, in the 101st Airborne Division. He co-authored the book “Brothers in Battle, Best of Friends” with his friend Edward “Babe” Heffron and journalist Robyn Post. Guarnere’s experiences were also portrayed in the 2001 HBO miniseries Band of Brothers, with actor Frank John Hughes playing his character.
