Sun Sign: Sagittarius
Birthplace: England
Died: June 1, 1660
Mary Dyer, a Puritan who later embraced Quakerism, experienced persecution for her beliefs in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. She supported Anne Hutchinson and John Wheelwright during the Antinomian Controversy, resulting in her husband’s disenfranchisement. After moving to Rhode Island, she converted to Quakerism in England. Upon her return to Boston, she faced imprisonment and banishment multiple times for her beliefs. Despite the threat of execution, she persisted in defying anti-Quaker laws and was eventually hanged as a martyr in 1660.
