Edward of Woodstock, also known as the Black Prince, was a renowned English commander during the Hundred Years’ War. He held significant military and leadership positions, including Duke of Cornwall, guardian of the kingdom, Prince of Wales, and king’s lieutenant in Gascony. Edward achieved victories in battles at Crécy and Poitiers, negotiated treaties, defeated rivals, and led military campaigns in Aquitaine. He was also involved in political conflicts and upon returning to England, he resigned his titles and led opposition against the Lancastrian administration.
