Udham Singh was an Indian revolutionary affiliated with the Ghadar Party and HSRA. He became well-known for assassinating Michael O’Dwyer, the former lieutenant governor of the Punjab, in response to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Singh was found guilty of murder and executed by hanging. While in custody, he took on the name ‘Ram Mohammad Singh Azad’ to represent unity among India’s major religions and his anti-colonial beliefs. Singh is revered as a key figure in India’s fight for independence and is honored with the title Shaheed-i-Azam Sardar Udham Singh.
