Arthur Buchwald, an American humorist, gained fame for his syndicated column in The Washington Post, which featured political satire. He began his career as a journalist in post-WWII Paris, writing “Paris After Dark” for the Paris Herald Tribune. Upon his return to the United States in 1962, he kept writing his column and publishing books. Buchwald’s achievements include receiving the Pulitzer Prize for Outstanding Commentary in 1982 and being elected to the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters in 1991.
