John Wesley Dean III is an American attorney who held the position of White House Counsel for U.S. President Richard Nixon during the Watergate scandal. He was a key figure in the cover-up and later testified before Congress. After pleading guilty, he served time at Fort Holabird and was subsequently disbarred. Dean has since authored books, given lectures, and provided political commentary. He shifted from being a Goldwater conservative to becoming a vocal critic of the Republican Party, particularly in relation to Presidents George W. Bush and Donald Trump.
