Greville Michael Wilson Starkey, an accomplished English jockey, enjoyed a successful 33-year career on the flat, riding nearly 2,000 winners. He achieved notable victories in prestigious races including The Derby, Irish Derby, Oaks, and 2,000 Guineas. Starkey was renowned for his Classic double-double in 1978 and his multiple wins in races such as the Ascot Gold Cup and Eclipse Stakes. He was champion apprentice in 1957 and retired in 1989. Starkey passed away in 2010 at the age of 70.
