Laozi, a legendary Chinese philosopher, is renowned for writing the Tao Te Ching, a foundational text of Taoism. He served as the royal archivist for the Zhou court and is said to have met Confucius. Some believe he became an immortal hermit, while others see the Tao Te Ching as the embodiment of the god Laojun.
