Denis Potvin is a former professional ice hockey defenceman who played for the New York Islanders in the NHL. He was the team captain and won the Stanley Cup four times with them. Potvin also received the James Norris Memorial Trophy three times as the league’s top defenceman. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1991. After retiring, Potvin worked as a commentator for Ottawa Senators’ television broadcasts on Sportsnet and was the former color commentator for the Florida Panthers. In 2017, he was named one of the “100 Greatest NHL Players” in history.
