Patrick Dodson is an Australian indigenous rights activist and former politician. He served as a Senator for Western Australia from 2016 to 2024 representing the Australian Labor Party (ALP). Dodson held significant roles including chairman of the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation and Commissioner into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody. He was also a Roman Catholic priest and received accolades such as the 2008 Sydney Peace Prize and the 2009 John Curtin Medal. Dodson announced his retirement from the Senate in 2023 due to health reasons.
