Esma Redžepova-Teodosievska, known as “the Queen of the Gypsies,” was a celebrated Macedonian Romani vocalist, songwriter, and humanitarian with a career spanning over five decades. She collaborated closely with her husband, composer Stevo Teodosievski, and her music was a fusion of traditional Romani and Macedonian styles with pop influences. Redžepova was a pioneer in Romani music, being among the first to sing in the Romani language on radio and television. Her powerful voice, distinctive attire, and philanthropic work made a lasting impact on Romani culture and music.
