Trota of Salerno, a prominent medical practitioner and writer in the 12th century, was renowned for her expertise in medicine and healing. Her work spread throughout Europe, reaching countries such as France and England. Trota’s collection of therapies and cures was included in the Trotula, a compilation of treatises on women’s medicine. However, misconceptions about her identity eventually led to the erasure or alteration of her contributions to medical knowledge. It wasn’t until the late 20th century that Trota’s authentic work was rediscovered.
