James William George Roycroft, OBE, was an Australian Olympic equestrian champion. Following his service in World War II, he started his professional career and settled in a soldier’s block in western Victoria. Roycroft participated in five Olympics between 1960 and 1976 and achieved bronze medals in team eventing at the 1968 Mexico City and 1976 Montreal Games. He notably contributed to Australia’s gold medal win in the team three-day event at the 1960 Rome Games, despite being thrown off his horse the day before. Roycroft later transitioned to coaching the Australian eventing team.
