Bob Wills, known as the King of Western Swing, was a highly influential American musician, songwriter, and bandleader. In 1934, he founded the Texas Playboys, infusing jazz-like arrangements and incorporating a horn section to expand the band’s sound. The group rose to national fame in the 1940s with hits such as “Steel Guitar Rag” and “San Antonio Rose.” Despite health challenges, Wills continued to perform and produce successful tracks in the 1950s. His musical contributions were honored with inductions into the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
