John L. Hennessy is a prominent American computer scientist who has made significant contributions to the technology industry. He co-founded MIPS Technologies and Atheros, and was the tenth President of Stanford University until 2016. Hennessy currently serves as the chairperson of Alphabet Inc. (Google) and has been referred to as “the godfather of Silicon Valley” by Marc Andreessen. Alongside David Patterson, he was honored with the 2017 Turing Award for their innovative work in developing the reduced instruction set computer (RISC) architecture, now a standard in modern computer chip design.
