Ralph Modjeski, a renowned Polish-American civil engineer, was recognized as “America’s greatest bridge builder.” He led the way in the implementation of suspension bridges and was instrumental in designing and building almost forty bridges across North America’s major rivers. Additionally, Modjeski contributed significantly to the expansion of new railway networks. His influence extended to the training of upcoming American bridge professionals, including Joseph B. Strauss, who served as the chief engineer for the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
